ABOUT TAVETA TVC

Mwatate Technical and Vocational College, situated in Mwatate Sub-County of Taita Taveta County, has its origins in the growing demand for skilled professionals in Kenya's workforce. Recognizing the pivotal role of technical and vocational education in addressing this demand, the Kenyan government embarked on initiatives to establish specialized institutions across the country.

In 2018, amidst this national push for technical and vocational education, plans were set in motion to establish Mwatate Technical and Vocational College in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County. The vision was to create a center of excellence that would offer high-quality training in various technical fields to empower individuals and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.

After extensive planning, construction, and curriculum development, Mwatate Technical and Vocational College proudly opened its doors to the first cohort of students in 2021. This marked a significant milestone in the journey towards providing accessible and relevant technical education to the local community and beyond.

From its inception, the college has been committed to upholding the highest standards of education and training. It obtained full registration and accreditation from both the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) and the Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Certification Council (CDACC), ensuring that its programs meet national standards and requirements.

Mwatate Technical and Vocational College, strategically located in Mwatate Sub-County of Taita Taveta County, initially launched programs in key areas of demand, including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business, Mechanical Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. These programs were carefully designed to equip students with the practical skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to thrive in their chosen fields and make meaningful contributions to the workforce.

Over the years, Mwatate Technical and Vocational College has continued to grow and evolve, expanding its course offerings, upgrading its facilities, and forging partnerships with industry stakeholders to enhance the relevance and effectiveness of its programs. Through its dedication to excellence, innovation, and community engagement, the college remains steadfast in its mission to empower individuals, transform lives, and drive progress in the ever-changing landscape of technical and vocational education in Kenya.
